A 24' x 38'. It's maybe a bit large for this sight, but cool none the less.

It's about thirteen hundred counting the porch, which is 6' wide across the front. The loft is in the four gables end and is 24 x 16'.

As of now we're figuring 2x4 as it will probably not be used in the winter. It is on an island. It is quite costly as it all cedar lap siding. I'm not done with a materials list, but close. I would guess about twenty thousand. I'm just building it. I wish I could have it for myself.

That's very reasonable materials-wise for a cabin as large as this. The owner is going to be very happy I think.

Well I had to go see the site. It'll be a month to six weeks before I can start. On and island I went there by snowmobile. It will be on a steep hill and the front will be about seven feet off the ground with the rear close to the ground.

That sounds like fun, Owen! Congratulations!
I helped build a cabin on an island up in Down East Maine. Loved the commute!

Down here only a coating and then rain. The cabin was in that 9 to 15 inch bubble, so who knows!?? Tired of winter this year and so ready for STEADY warm temps!

It will be a while to get started. We figure ice out won't be until mid-May. A barge will probably haul building supplies then. I'm told the ice is three to four feet thick yet. Crazy! The snow is mostly gone at least. But yes, I'll keep the topic up as I build.

It's-- 6/23/2014-- Finally got a start on this cabin. The septic work and clearing got done this last week. I went up and set up a camp and stayed all week with my daughter, husband, oldest grandson. We had the excavator dig three trenches down to bedrock. It was three to four feet deep. Lot's of large nuggets that would have been to big for hand work. After the rock was exposed we set 21 - treated 6x6's and piled rocks back around them to hold, then we were able to get the excavator to back fill. Temporary bracing and stringlines kept as well as our watchful eyes kept it all straight. ugly start

It has been quite worry some as we had to get al the heavy materials over on the barge that only was there to haul equipment and gravel for the septic. Trying to fit our lumber deliveries into that schedule was a great concern. Our great customer gave us a pontoon boat to use, but I didn't want to spend all summer hauling wood. Anyway it all worked and now we have to site to ourselves. By tomorrow we should have the floor built. took my tools over

Been tough. No tv, no power, except generator only fishing for entertainment, then living in tents. My grandson never talked about his video games, only how great a fisherman he is. bass and walleye
