Had decided to build a cabin for occasional use in washington state. After checking with county for permits, I found that a legal survey and permit would be required for anything over 200 sq. feet. As I had only planned on a small cabin, I decided on a 12x16 which put me under the 200 sq. foot requirement and saved the cost of a permit and survey. That alone saved me around $3000.00. I knew where the lot lines were from the next door neighbors surveys (not recorded) and from measurments I had made from corner stakes. So far construction has been about $2600.00 which includes 2x6 framing, steel door, new and salvaged vinyl windows, wall sheeting(osb) and roof sheeting(1/2" ply). Hoping to be under $5000 total.

Nice cabin, interesting design. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have/planning to have a loft inside the cabin? I assume you will do some sort of siding...

Impressive design. A covered porch is a must in the northwest and the shed dormer adds character as well as light. Please keep posting pics.

WOW nice going fish! I was looking at a similar Mennonite built shed yesterday - the dormer adds great roof height inside - and if you're lofting whoever's sleeping up there has a window view. Not to mention better lighting.

I really like the design too. Somehow missed seeing this one. Just the floor plan would be great.
Interior pix would be oustanding
Quoting: cbc58 looks larger than 200s.f. Unless bigfish is taller than (say) 7 ft, it appears within 200 sf to me.
Wish you'd update us bigfish.
Maybe I should start a new thread "Looking for bigfish", but then again a lot of us would probably end up talking about salmon and steehead, and there's just not enough room in all of cyberspace for all that...and if we in fact did, I'd end up refilling all 17 reels (gathering dust on the rack in my den) and trudging to the Clackamas to extract another 6-8 lb hen...

That would be a good question to post as a thread of it's own (tip, extra questions on an existing thread sidetrack it and tend to get lost).
