Fall is the beginning of our season in the desert. Days are about 80 and nights are mid 50's with a dry desert breeze, perfect for a fire in the firepit! Hiking, 4 wheeling, working on the place are in order. Plus beer. And Scotch.... fall is scotch season!

We went up to the land the end of Sept and hit the colors at peak. We couldn't have hit it any better. I love the north woods in fall. Sitting by the camp fire at night, a nice nip in the air to fall asleep and waking up with a bit of frost

Everything Rayyy said, well done.
Cut firewood, make trails. Nice that the dust is down.

I really liked it last year when I was skiing. Generally it's just a nice time to hike, and get any last second winter preparations done. I actually enjoy the nights settling in a bit earlier. It's campfire season.

Currently I only have Doug Fir and Ponderosa near the cabin, so it doesn't look much different in the fall. I wish I had some maples near the cabin for the color. But my cabin's on the hilltop, which might cause difficulty growing them. I have lots of maples on the hillside below the cabin, there must be water down there.

Anyway, one thing I do in the fall is plant stuff. I planted a bunch of huckleberries but it's been almost 2 years now and about 1/2 survived but so far only one (1!) berry. I plant stuff but don't claim success in growing stuff.

Hattie, these are gorgeous...looks like you are entering a fairy book town! Lucky you!

I love walking our trails in the fall and hearing the leaves crunching under my feet and the smell of the dried leaves- so relaxing

Tom, you sure those are Ponderosa? I'd bet its Lodgepole pines.

Mine is like Toms, green all year long. I'm 90% Ponderosa with about 10% Douglas Fir. Looks the same all year long.

The fall has always been my favourite time of the year. The colours are amazing! I love the warm days and cool nights and no bugs the best. In the summer I can tolerate the mosquitos but the deer flies drive me nuts. By fall they are all gone and we can enjoy walks etc bug free!
